About Saint Columba

Saint Columba is a Roman Catholic church in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen City. It is part of the Diocese of Aberdeen.

Introduction

The parish website describes the 1983 church centre as jointly owned by the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of Scotland, a situation unique in Scotland.

The building

In the Catholic chapel, the altar was consecrated in June 1984, while the font and tabernacle support are made of Aberdeen granite. A vintage tabernacle given by Marydale, Cannich, has a golden door engraved with the Lamb in majesty. Statues of Our Lady and St Columba stand at the far sides of the sanctuary.
