About Saint Gregory the Great
Saint Gregory the Great is a Roman Catholic church in Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh. It is part of the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh.
Sacraments and pastoral care
Within the cluster of Saint Catherine's, Saint Gregory's and Saint John Vianney's, the Archbishop usually confers Confirmation in May on children who are normally in Primary 7. In the same cluster, children who are normally in Primary 4 usually receive First Holy Communion across May and June.
Baptism takes place on three weekends each year in the cluster of three parishes. Parents are invited by the Baptism Team to take part in a Baptism Preparation Course that is offered.
Children and their families are also expected to complete a preparation programme for Confirmation. Parish catechists prepare young people by working with parents and with the primary schools of Saint John Vianney's and Saint Catherine's.
