Parish life
The Catholic community of SS Benet and John Fisher, founded in 1909, focuses on serving the poor and spreading the gospel. The Parish Social Committee organises annual events such as a Valentine's Quiz Night, Easter Lunch, International Day, Summer BBQ, harvest get-together, Christmas Bazaar and Christmas Ball. The Parish Hall is rented out throughout the year to parishioners and the local community of Abbey Wood and Thamesmead. The parish runs a Repository Shop selling gift items, rosaries, cards, CDs, books and other spiritual items.
AIC Abbey Wood organises a Spring Tea Party for Seniors in May and an Autumn Tea Party for Seniors in October every year. The hall serves for baptism, First Holy Communion and confirmation receptions, group meetings, or for wakes.
