About Saint Margaret

Saint Margaret is a Roman Catholic church in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. It is part of the Archdiocese of Glasgow.

Music and liturgy

In 2015 the parish decided to employ a youth music minister for five hours per week and to begin using Life Teen resources. At the end of Mass, young people may come forward to play instruments in support of the music group.

Parish life

An active Society of Saint Vincent de Paul group in the parish raises money by collecting at Sunday Masses. The Pastoral Council, a body of parishioners, meets regularly to discuss pastoral life and advise the parish priest.

A pre-First Holy Communion club meets on four Sundays before the sacrament. The parish's outreach to young adults aged 16 to 35 includes faith, devotion, scripture sharing, retreats, pilgrimages, and social events. The parish's Catholic schools are Our Holy Redeemer Primary school for P1 to P7 and Saint Peter the Apostle High School for S1 to S6. The parish has a regular Sunday Mass Children's Liturgy programme.

Sacraments and pastoral care

The parish's youth groups are able to meet at St Margaret's hall, St Margaret's presbytery and at OHR House. Preparation for Baptism includes attendance at the parishes' pre-baptism evenings.

In the Archdiocese of Glasgow, young people are confirmed when aged 11 or 12, at Primary 7 stage. In the Archdiocese of Glasgow, children receive First Holy Communion at Primary 4 stage, around 7 - 8 years of age, some time after Easter.
