About Saint Margaret
Saint Margaret is a Roman Catholic church in Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh. It is part of the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh.
Introduction
In the eleventh century, Queen Margaret founded a free ferry here to ease the crossing, particularly for pilgrims travelling to St Andrews. From the 1330s, a community of Carmelite Friars served pilgrims and the faithful in the town until the ancient faith was outlawed in 1560. The parish serves the communities of South Queensferry, Kirkliston and Dalmeny. The parish publishes a weekly bulletin with details of events.
