About Saint Peter in Chains
Saint Peter in Chains is a Roman Catholic church in Ardrossan, North Ayrshire. It is part of the Diocese of Galloway.
Introduction
The church is a Category A listed building, listed on 07/04/1978. The church has a long aisled nave with a tower at the SE corner, built of multi-hued brick with a tiled roof.
The parish centre is used by hundreds of people, young adults and children on a weekly basis. The parish runs a Sacramental Programme and pastoral care in primary schools, along with adult learning opportunities.
Architecture and furnishings
The tower has a copper turret on top. The interior is spacious with brick piers, a plastered ceiling gallery at the south end and sanctuary at the north end. The church's plain south end features a pointed doorway with decorative brickwork above, flanked by two very small windows.
