Introduction

SS Julius, Aaron and David in Caerleon, within the Archdiocese of Cardiff-Menevia, was built in 1885 at the expense of Robert Wollett and designed by Graham, Son & Hitchcox. The parish broadcasts its church services online through YouTube. A service for requesting visits to the sick is available.

Architecture and furnishings

The church is built of coursed grey lias rubble with freestone dressings and a red plain tile roof replaced in the 1990s. The plan is gable end to the street with west porch, nave and chancel. The interior has a chancel arch with triple colonnettes and a three bay roof with arch braced tie beams. A benefactors plaque to Robert Wollett of The Mynde is in the church.

The small porch has a pointed arch doorway, plank doors, and a gable cross. The nave gable has a small arched light on either side of the porch and is crowned by a corbelled, gabled bellcote with a single bell. The south wall has three large two-light windows that break the roofline under gables, with a roundel above the two pointed lights, while the north wall has only two, nearest the street. The chancel has a window on the south wall and a two-light east window with cusped headed lights and a trefoil above. The furnishings are plain and have been altered in the sanctuary.
