About Ss. Mary & Joseph
Ss. Mary & Joseph is a Roman Catholic church in Hedon, East Riding of Yorkshire. It is part of the Diocese of Middlesbrough.
Introduction
The church was built in 1803 during the ministry of Father Joseph Swinburne, who moved the Catholic chapel from Nuthill.
History
A similar apse at the opposite end contains a gallery with a carved and panelled front. The church was built in 1803 behind two much earlier cottages, by an unknown architect, probably a local builder-architect. The church is built of brown brick with a pantiled roof.
Visiting
The parish may host heritage tours and special events exploring the history of the church and Catholic life in Hull. The church has full access facilities for wheelchairs and a loop system for hearing-aid users.
