Music and liturgy

The Weymouth meditation group is affiliated to the UK WCCM. The meditation sessions include a short talk, music, a prayer, and a period of silence of 20 to 30 minutes.

Parish life

Volunteers in Weymouth and Portland created a zero food waste cookery book with world food recipes. The parish raised over £600 through sales of the Parish CAFOD Fixing the Food System recipe book.

The Catholic Women's League, founded in 1906 by Margaret Fletcher, is an international organisation with 5 million members and is a registered charity. First Holy Communion children made and sold cakes for CAFOD, raising £162.05. Young people in school year 9 and above are prepared for Confirmation through sessions at the church and a retreat.

Visiting

The parish helped find Turkish speakers from Weymouth to visit a Turkish seaman in hospital after a heart attack. The parish CAFOD team planned to produce a 'zero waste' recipe book with each recipe containing one or more Fair Trade ingredients. The parish encouraged parishioners to email the Foreign Secretary and sign action cards for the Fix the Food System campaign. Following CAFOD's actions, the World Bank agreed to meet with CAFOD representatives in London and Morocco.

The parish launched its 'Fixing to Food System...one step at a time Recipe Book'. The parish raised £2127.69 in a CAFOD appeal.
