St. Joseph's, Basingstoke

Parish life

Cecilia Sound, a band at St Joseph's Church, is named after Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music. The Saint Joseph’s Holiday @ Home Team offers a meeting place every two months where needy and elderly people can socialise and enjoy entertainment.

First Holy Communion classes are for children in school year 4 and above, with sessions to support parents and classes for adults. Alpha is open to all parishioners and especially to parents whose children are going through sacramental preparation.

The parish arranges visits and Holy Communion for those unable to get to church or in hospital. The parish celebrates the Ascension of the Lord on 14 May 2026.

Sacraments and pastoral care

The parish prepares young Catholics for Confirmation in two stages, Evangelisation and Catechesis, and also prepares adults. Parents must attend 2 evenings of the Baptism Preparation course.

The parish runs regular marriage care sessions for marriage preparation. Alpha at Saint Joseph's runs over ten weeks and includes a short film, a friendly meal, and open conversation, with no pressure, no follow-up, and no cost.
