About St Margaret and All Saints, Canning Town
St Margaret and All Saints, Canning Town is a Roman Catholic church in Canning Town, Greater London. It is part of the Diocese of Brentwood.
Introduction
The first school in the parish was founded in 1870 behind the current parish church on the Barking Road. Both St Helen's and St Margaret's schools were destroyed in World War II.
Parish life
The parish holds a meeting for engaged couples in October each year in the Parish Centre. The parish runs a Confirmation preparation programme for young people, with registration in late November and confirmation on Pentecost Sunday.
The parish has a Parish Sister. The parish allows parishioners to place ashes of loved ones in the vault of St Margaret’s Church. The parish has two secondary schools, St Bonaventure’s and St Angela’s, which also received Outstanding reports from Ofsted.
