About St. Margaret Roy Bridge
St. Margaret Roy Bridge is a Roman Catholic church in Roybridge, Highland. It is part of the Diocese of Argyll and the Isles.
Introduction
The church was built to replace St Margaret's Chapel at Mulroy. Reginald Fairlie designed the church in 1929.
Architecture and furnishings
The south elevation has four narrow pointed-headed windows divided by buttresses, with similar fenestration in the north elevation. The chancel is lit by linked round-headed lancets high in the south and north walls. There is a projecting gabled vestry at the southeast, linked to the neighbouring presbytery. The interior has a timber ceiling.
The chancel is framed by a polished ashlar round-headed arch supported by engaged facetted columns with plain capitals. The chancel has a ribbed octagonal polished wood saucer-shaped ceiling with a central feature. The west gable of the church is pierced by a round-headed tripartite window. The church is lit by clear leaded glazing and is covered by a slate roof that is canted at the east end.
Parish life
The parish includes the churches of Saint Margaret's, the parish church, mass centres at Spean Bridge and Invergarry, and the fifteenth century Cille Choirill church.
Visiting
