About St. Maria Goretti, Preston
St. Maria Goretti, Preston is a Roman Catholic church in Preston, Lancashire. It is part of the Diocese of Lancaster.
Introduction
St Maria Goretti's church was built and consecrated during the growth of Ribbleton.
Parish life
Children make their First Confession as part of the preparation programme. Children normally make their First Holy Communion in May. Confirmation is announced through the parish bulletin and at Corpus Christi Catholic High School.
Sacraments and pastoral care
Baptism is normally celebrated either within Sunday Mass or at a baptismal service arranged with the Parish Priest. Parents are asked to first attend a Saturday evening or Sunday morning Mass at The Blessed Sacrament or St Maria Goretti and then talk to the priest. Parents must bring a white shawl or similar garment for the child; a baptismal candle is provided to keep. Arrangements can be made for families whose children do not attend St Maria Goretti or The Blessed Sacrament Primary Schools. Couples should contact the parish at least nine months prior to the proposed marriage date.
