About St. Mary Mission [Syro-Malabar]
St. Mary Mission [Syro-Malabar] is a Roman Catholic church in High Blantyre, South Lanarkshire. It is part of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Great Britain.
Introduction
In 2001, a group of Syro-Malabar Catholics settled around Cambuslang and were helped spiritually by the priest of Saint Bride's Cambuslang, who opened Saint Bride's for Syro-Malabar liturgical celebrations.
History
In 2011, Saint Cuthbert's and Saint Ninian's formed a linked parish, bringing an Assistant Priest and establishing the association with the Syro-Malabar Community.
Parish life
Parishioners climbed Tinto Hill following the Way of the Cross during the Great Lenten Season. The parish inaugurated its Catechism programme for 2021-2022 and distributed prizes to the top three winners of the previous year's examination.
Visiting
The parish's youth took part in the UK Syro-Malabar Youth Program's Adoration for Encounter En-route 2021, held in fourteen churches from 21 to 23 October.
