What the parish's page says
First Mass for Sunday is on Saturday evening at 4.30pm Mass on Sunday is at 10am with Little Church for the Children Mass usually on Wednesdays and Fridays at 9.30am preceeded by Eucharistic Adoration at 9am. On the First Friday of every month Mass is celebrated at 12pm and we remember especially all those in our book of remembrance. Please see Newsletter section for current information
About St. Mary, Mother of God, Kirkby
St. Mary, Mother of God, Kirkby is a Roman Catholic church in Kirkby, Merseyside. It is part of the Archdiocese of Liverpool.
Introduction
Around 1968 the church came officially to be known as St Mary’s. In 1980 the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart were invited by the diocese to assume responsibility for the parish.
Sacraments and pastoral care
Parents in the parish can arrange a meeting to outline the baptism preparation process. The parish runs a Communion Preparation programme. The Sacrament of Confession/Reconciliation is available before and after Mass on weekdays and Saturday.
Visiting
The Parish Club opened its doors in May 1958 under its first president, Mr Charlie Neill. The foundation stone of the church was laid at a ceremony presided over by the archbishop. The manager of the Irish Centre stressed the invaluable work of a priest for the Irish community in Liverpool, particularly in securing the foundation of the Irish Centre itself.
