About St. Paul

St. Paul is a Roman Catholic church in Plymouth, Devon. It is part of the Diocese of Plymouth.

Introduction

St Paul's Church in Plymouth, built in 1933, was described as a miniature St Paul's outside the walls of Rome. St Paul's Church was consecrated on 5 November 1933.

Architecture and furnishings

The church was the first of five churches built in the Diocese by Mrs Robinson, erected on the site of a rugby pitch. Above the entrance there is a white wheel panel referring to the majesty of God. Inside the church there is a tympanum above the Confessional, a plaster relief portraying Christ with his apostles teaching the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Stations of the Cross and the Madonna were carved by Stufflesser, Oritisei, North Italy. The church is part of Holy Trinity Parish, which also includes Holy Family and Our Most Holy Redeemer churches.
