About St Thomas More, Barking
St Thomas More, Barking is a Roman Catholic church in Barking, Greater London. It is part of the Diocese of Brentwood.
Introduction
The Pallottines (Society of Catholic Apostolate) came to the Diocese of Brentwood in 1935 and opened the Parish of St Thomas More in Barking. The parish has two Mass centres: St Thomas More Church on Longbridge Road and St Anne's Church on Woodward Road, Dagenham. The parish is administered by the Pallottine Fathers (Society of Catholic Apostolate). In 2010 the parish celebrated 75 years of its life.
Parish life
The parish council serves as the focal point for the many clubs and groups in the parish, including the Friendship club, Youth Club, and Family (toddlers) Group. The parish priests provide chaplaincy support to the school chaplain of All Saints Secondary school Dagenham. The parish has a strong bond with The St Teresa Catholic Primary School Dagenham, whose pastoral chaplaincy needs are met by the parish priests. The parish council represents the parish at the Diocesan Plenary Forum.
