About St Vincent de Paul, Battersea
St Vincent de Paul, Battersea is a Roman Catholic church in Battersea, Greater London. It is part of the Archdiocese of Southwark.
Introduction
St Vincent de Paul in Battersea, part of the Archdiocese of Southwark, was established as a parish in 1903, with its church built in 1907. The church has undergone reordering to reflect liturgical developments following the Second Vatican Council.
Parish life
Around the apse are inscribed the words 'DEUS PROVIDEBIT SIBI VICTIMAM HOLOCAUSTI', meaning 'God will provide for himself the sacrificial victim'. The parish supports Depaul UK's work with homeless young people.
London SW Catholic Social Group is a social group for young Catholics that meets every month. In early September, applications are invited for children in Primary School Year 3 or above for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion preparation. The parish holds Baptismal Preparation Sessions for parishioners hoping to have their child baptised.
Sacraments and pastoral care
Parents must reside in the parish and attend Sunday Mass weekly to arrange a child's baptism. First celebrations of the Sacrament of Reconciliation usually take place before Christmas, and again in Lent and closer to the First Communion Mass.
