Chapel of the Blessed Virgin, Milton

Introduction

Milton Manor, begun between 1630 and 1670, was 'Georgianised' by Bryant Barrett after he purchased the estate in 1764. The house includes a Strawberry Hill Gothick library.

Parish life

First Holy Communion preparation in this parish community starts for children aged seven or older. First Holy Communions are celebrated on the Sunday of the Feast of Corpus Christi, which falls around the third week of June.

The parish holds an annual Milton Pilgrimage from East Hendred, during which Mass is said in the chapel. Visitors seeking further details are directed to the Milton Manor House website.

Sacraments and pastoral care

To be baptised in Hendred Catholic Parish, either at S. Mary's in East Hendred or S. Patrick's in East Ilsley, one must be part of the worshipping community, coming to Mass on Sundays and Holydays and striving to live the Faith. Confessions can also be heard by appointment, or after any Mass by speaking to the priest. Preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation runs every other year and normally lasts for one year (November - June).
