Church of the Sacred Heart, Tisbury is a Roman Catholic church in Tisbury, Wiltshire. It is part of the Diocese of Clifton.
Introduction
The Church of the Sacred Heart in Tisbury was constructed as a chapel of ease for Wardour, using a plain Gothic style. In 1897 Lady Anne Lucy Arundell gave a site at the lower end of the High Street for the Church of the Sacred Heart. The foundation stone of the Church of the Sacred Heart was laid on 3 November 1898. In 1934 the Church of the Sacred Heart was consecrated and declared the parish church for the district of Tisbury.
History
The 12th Lord Arundell gave the stone for the Church of the Sacred Heart, provided the parishioners quarried and carted it. Money for building the Church of the Sacred Heart came from voluntary subscriptions and gifts. From 1934 the Church of the Sacred Heart had resident clergy. The Church of the Sacred Heart remained a separate parish until 1966. The Church of the Sacred Heart has a chancel, a nave and a north Lady Chapel, and could accommodate 200 people.
