Corpus Christi Church, Tonbridge

Parish life

The parish family is shaped by people who give their time to many groups and societies, from children's worship and Scouting to bereavement support and outreach. The parish conference of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul works locally to help anyone in need across Tonbridge, Hadlow, and Paddock Wood.

Bereavement support serves the parish of Corpus Christi, including St Justus, Paddock Wood and St Peter's, Hadlow. The Lifeboat was founded in 2019 by parishioners who recognised the need for support within the community. The Lifeboat's support is available to anyone in the parish or wider community who has experienced bereavement, regardless of how recent or how long ago the loss occurred. The Lifeboat also hopes to organise occasional social outings and activities, and many lasting friendships have been formed through the group.

The parish is proud of its Parish Primary School, Saint Margaret Clitherow, which is a vital part of the parish community. The parish offers groups from Cherubs children's liturgy to Faith in the Family and the Malawi Twinning Project. The Social Committee plans and runs the social calendar for the parish, from summer fairs and Christmas parties to fundraising events and seasonal celebrations.

Sacraments and pastoral care

The parish offers preparation for all parents who bring their child for Baptism. Parents applying for their child's Baptism are expected to attend preparation classes. Couples intending marriage must contact the Parish Priest at least 6 months before the intended date. The parish asks to be notified about sick or elderly people who cannot come to church and would like to receive Holy Communion or the Anointing of the Sick.

The parish asks to be informed if someone in hospital would like to receive the sacraments. Upon the death of a loved one, the parish asks to be called or emailed.
