About Holy Cross Church, Harlow
Holy Cross Church, Harlow is a Roman Catholic church in Harlow, Essex. It is part of the Diocese of Brentwood.
Parish life
The parish runs a First Holy Communion preparation programme for children who attend Mass regularly at Holy Cross Church. The Guild of St Stephen, an organisation for altar servers, is open to anyone who has made their First Holy Communion.
Sacraments and pastoral care
Children in the First Holy Communion programme receive homework assignments each weekend during Mass, and completing them is essential. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is taught as part of the First Holy Communion Programme, with children making their first confession as they prepare to receive Jesus for the first time. Extra Reconciliation services are held during Lent and Advent.
The parish also directs people to contact Our Lady of Fatima Parish or The Assumption Parish for anointing of the sick. The Sacrament of Confirmation is an adult response to the promises made by parents and godparents at Baptism, and candidates must be 14 years old at the time of Confirmation. To begin the marriage process, couples contact a priest or a deacon.
