About Holy Trinity
Holy Trinity is a Roman Catholic church in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. It is part of the Diocese of Aberdeen.
Introduction
The Catholic congregation of Holy Trinity in Westhill uses a multi-purpose church in common with the local Church of Scotland and the former Scottish Episcopal congregation, and has no building of its own. Trinity Church on Westhill Drive comes from building work in 1981 and from expansion work in 2003 and 2025. Since at least 1974 a Catholic community has been present in Westhill, at first forming part of the Cathedral Parish and attending Mass at the Cathedral in Aberdeen city centre.
History
Westhill Primary School hosted a weekly Vigil Mass from 1 December 1979, the Vigil of the First Sunday of Advent, until the opening of Trinity Church in 1981. The building contains a small chapel in which weekday celebrations are held and a main hall in which Sunday Mass is held.
Sacraments and pastoral care
Parents who register children for sacramental classes are asked to attend Sunday Mass with those children. P7 and secondary school-age students are invited to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Sacramental preparation classes meet after Sunday Mass through the school year, follow the Aberdeenshire Council school timetable, and do not meet during school holidays. Attendance at Sunday Mass is a mandatory part of sacramental preparation.
