About Oulton Abbey

Oulton Abbey is a Roman Catholic church in Stone, Staffordshire. It is part of the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

Introduction

Oulton Abbey in Stone, within the Archdiocese of Birmingham, was founded on its current site in 1853, and its Grade II* Pugin Abbey Church was completed in 1854 to house the Benedictine nuns.

History

The chapel was built in 1854, designed by Edward Welby Pugin as successor to his late father Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin, whose style predominates. The chapter house and sacristy were added in 1892. The care home, though Catholic in background, welcomes residents of every faith.
