Our Lady and Saint Peter, Wimbledon Common

Sacraments and pastoral care

The parish prepares children around age 8 for their first Holy Communion, which includes first Confession. Confirmation is celebrated every 2 years for the church, with preparation programs advertised in the parish Newsletter. Adults who missed confirmation in their teenage years can contact the parish priest to arrange to receive the sacrament.

The sacrament of the sick is readily available, and in an emergency a family member can contact the priest to come quickly. The parish priest asks couples to talk to him at least six months before their hoped-for wedding date. The parish encourages those married outside the church or previously married to talk to the priest, as there may be a way to help. The parish priest invites those considering a vocation to the permanent diaconate or priesthood to speak with him.
