About Our Lady and St Peter
Our Lady and St Peter is a Roman Catholic church in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. It is part of the Diocese of East Anglia.
Introduction
The old statue of St Peter on the porch was so eroded by weather that it appeared to have been damaged by Cromwell.
Architecture and furnishings
The statue shows St Peter holding a net and looking from the town toward the sea. A new statue of St Peter was carved and placed at the front of the church.
Parish life
The parish has a Parish Pastoral Council. The parish requires six months' notice before a wedding. The parish supports parents and children preparing for the sacraments of confession and communion. The parish offers a funeral liturgy, normally a Mass, but a service without Mass is possible. The parish of Aldeburgh and Leiston welcomes children into the family and life of the Church through baptism.
