About Our Lady of Hal, Camden

Our Lady of Hal, Camden is a Roman Catholic church in London, Greater London. It is part of the Archdiocese of Westminster.

Introduction

In 1982, all but one of the remaining Belgian Fathers were recalled to Belgium, and the Diocese of Westminster assumed responsibility for running the parish. A copy of the original miraculous statue of Our Lady of Hal was placed in a chapel on the south side of the church.

Parish life

The parish serves Our Lady's Catholic Primary Camden, providing spiritual guidance and sacramental support for teachers and pupils. The parish RCIA programme starts in the Autumn, with candidates meeting weekly and preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter.

Couples planning to marry attend a Marriage Preparation course led by married parishioners. The parish keeps its Belgian connection alive with regular pilgrimages to Hal and the Scheut Fathers. The church is less than a five-minute walk from Camden Town Underground Station on the Northern line.

Sacraments and pastoral care

Couples planning to marry should make an appointment to see the Parish Priest at least six months before the proposed wedding date. The parish administers the last rites to anyone in danger of death. The staff of Our Lady of Hal assists families in planning funerals, including advance planning.
