About Our Lady of Lourdes, New Milton
Our Lady of Lourdes, New Milton is a Roman Catholic church in New Milton, Hampshire. It is part of the Diocese of Portsmouth.
Introduction
Wilfrid C. Mangan, a Catholic architect from Preston, designed the church in English Gothic style, and Marchetti of Portsmouth built it. The parish observes September as the Season of Creation.
Architecture and furnishings
In May 1924, Father Bernard Morris began holding regular Mass in New Milton, at first monthly at a place called 'Little Barrs'. The church's exterior features knapped flints arranged in squares, producing a chequer-board effect.
