Our Lady of Perpetual Succour

Introduction

The parish shrine to SS. Carlo, Francis and Clare will feature a triptych of three icons as its central feature.

Music and liturgy

The shrine will include a first class relic of Saint Carlo. New hymns and pieces are introduced, and choral parts from well-known hymns are also learnt.

The Children’s Liturgy consists of an act of sorrow and the Alleluia, followed by a simplified version of the Gospel of the day. Eucharistic Ministers take Communion to the sick and housebound at home.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is offered for Saint Mary’s, Largs, and Our Lady’s, Millport. A monsignor usually likes to wear rose on Gaudete Sunday and Laetare Sunday.

Parish life

The Youth Hub meets in the church hall on the last Fridays of the month. Since 1985, the Lourdes Group has sent two or three people on each diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Members of the Bereavement Group visit bereaved parishioners in pairs and bring flowers. The Legion of Mary undertakes house visits and visits to the sick and elderly. The Legion of Mary and the Saint Vincent de Paul Society visit the sick and poor on behalf of the parish.

Sacraments and pastoral care

The parish brings Holy Communion weekly to chronically housebound parishioners who request it. The parish priest offers visits, confession, and the sacrament of the sick to housebound parishioners.
