About Our Lady of Reconciliation de la Salette, Vauxhall
Our Lady of Reconciliation de la Salette, Vauxhall is a Roman Catholic church in Vauxhall, Merseyside. It is part of the Archdiocese of Liverpool.
Introduction
Edward Welby Pugin designed this church, which was built in 1859-60. The church is built of buff stone with red stone dressings and a slate roof.
Architecture and furnishings
The church has a single vessel nave and chancel with a rounded east end, and aisles under lean-to roofs. The west end has a shallow 20th-century porch with a large wheel window over it and a canopied, louvred opening at the top of the gable. The church has an octagonal bellcote with a short spire and cusped lights. The entrance at the west end of the north aisle has a segmental head under a pointed relieving arch, with the tympanum containing diocesan arms. The interior has a pointed arcade on round stone columns and high timber roofs.
