About Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and St Joseph
Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and St Joseph is a Roman Catholic church in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire. It is part of the Archdiocese of Westminster.
Parish life
Scouts, Cubs and Beavers meet on a Monday evening, and Guides, Brownies and Rainbows on a Wednesday evening, all in the Parish Centre. The parish livestreams Masses and ceremonies, allowing people in hospitals, nursing homes, or living abroad to watch and stay connected with the parish. A camera installed inside the church enables livestreaming of Masses and ceremonies from this church.
Sacraments and pastoral care
The parish holds a baptism preparation meeting approximately once every three months for first-time parents, explaining the Church's understanding of baptism and the practicalities. Baptism preparation courses are normally run on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, with dates published in the Parish Newsletter and on the Website. The parish provides a baptism candle for the child, and parents are asked to bring a white garment such as a baby shawl or white blanket. The parish's sacramental preparation programmes aim to nurture a strong partnership between families and the church, with the parish providing immediate preparation and Catholic schools providing initial or foundational preparation.
