About Precious Blood, Borough
Precious Blood, Borough is a Roman Catholic church in Borough, Greater London. It is part of the Archdiocese of Southwark.
Introduction
The organ was restored and enlarged in 2022 for this Church. The organ was retrieved and placed in storage at the Catholic Church of the Most Precious Blood.
Architecture and furnishings
The organ's conversion from pneumatic to electro-pneumatic action was required. A Willis console made for Dowanhill Church, Glasgow has been restored and adapted to control this instrument. The original, slightly sharp, pitch has been retained alongside the standard Lewis wind pressure of 3½″. An independent 61-note Contra Fagotto 16΄ rank with full length resonators has been added at the rear of the extended Swell box.
A 1950s Rushworth and Dreaper Tuba has been revoiced on 12″ pressure and for the sharp pitch and is placed just behind the case pipes. A spotted-metal pedal Posaune 16’, also on 3 ½″, was installed in 2023. A Phoenix digital Diapason 32', Contra Posaune 32' (bottom octave) and Violon 16' have been added to the main organ. The design, building frame, restoration of the console and construction of the organ was undertaken by Renatus Ltd.
The wind reservoirs were restored and re-leathered by D. Roberts Organ Builders Ltd. The metal pipework has been cleaned, restored and regulated by F. Booth & Son (Voicers) Ltd.
Evensong is held on the Second Wednesday according to the Ordinariate Use. Live-streaming is done regularly for the Solemn Mass.
Parish life
The parish is in the care of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham. The parish serves Anglicans seeking full communion with the Catholic Church.
The Walsingham Association holds a First Saturday Spiritual Pilgrimage and Mass. The Rosary Group meets on Fridays and Sundays.
