About St. Patrick's Friary

St. Patrick's Friary is a Roman Catholic church in London, Greater London. It is part of the Archdiocese of Southwark.

Introduction

Saint Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in London was originally built as a school chapel in the late nineteenth century by Scottish architect F.A. Walters. The church forms part of a school building built in 1897, initially served from the Cathedral, and since 1964 the parish has been in the care of Friars.

Architecture and furnishings

The main frontage of the church, hidden away on Cornwall Road, is in a simplified Neo-Romanesque style. Original plans drawn up by Walters show the chapel was proposed for a more convenient ground-floor location, but it was placed on the upper floor, and the drawings show a more ambitious scheme with a tower.
