About Sacred Heart of Jesus
Sacred Heart of Jesus is a Roman Catholic church in London, Greater London. It is part of the Archdiocese of Westminster.
Introduction
The parish was founded in 1854 as a mission chapel in Holloway. In 2004 the parish celebrated 150 years since the foundation of the Catholic mission in Holloway.
Parish life
The foodbank, which began in the open air space between the Church and the Presbytery, moved into the Parish Centre in October 2022. By mid-2023, 476 families or single people had registered with the foodbank, including over 900 adults and 800 children.
The foodbank has started to address social exclusion by providing a hot drink, a meal, and a chance to chat. The Feast of the Sacred Heart is celebrated 19 days after Pentecost, always on a Friday.
