About Saint Pius X
Saint Pius X is a Roman Catholic church in Merrow, Surrey. It is part of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton.
Introduction
The Parish of Saint Pius X in Merrow was established in June 1973. Saint Pius X was built on land in the Merrow Grange convent school, with the first Mass celebrated there in December 1972.
History
A site was purchased from the Sisters of Mary and Joseph, who ran the former Merrow Grange Convent School in Horseshoe Lane East. The Merrow Parish built its own Church in what was formerly the gardens of the Merrow Grange Convent School. Subsequent Parish Priests included several priests who served the parish. On Sunday, 7th September 2003, the Closing Mass was celebrated at the Church of Saint Mary of Pity. In November, the Month of the Holy Souls, the parish holds a service to remember all those who have died.
