Saint Theresa, Birstall is a Roman Catholic church in Birstall, Leicestershire. It is part of the Diocese of Nottingham.

Introduction

Construction work began on the new church and adjoining presbytery on April 3rd 1987 and would continue throughout the year.

History

The very last Mass in the old church in Wanlip Lane was celebrated on Saturday February 27th 1988, after which the congregation led by Maurice Joyce processed to the newly completed church.

Music and liturgy

Music plays an important part in worship, with a team of players for Masses and special feast days. Liturgy leaders present the Gospel message through stories, songs, pictures and actions, with children rejoining at the offertory procession.

Parish life

The parish has a youth choir of young people aged 7-18 who sing at the monthly family Mass. The parish's altar servers can be enrolled in the Guild of St Stephen, an international organisation of altar servers.

The parish is part of a Rosminian cluster of parishes and schools in the English midlands, coming together to share the ideals of the Institute of Charity. The parish runs an RCIA Programme for anyone considering becoming a member of the Catholic Church.
