About Ss. Peter & Paul
Ss. Peter & Paul is a Roman Catholic church in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. It is part of the Diocese of Leeds.
Introduction
The church was built in 1992, replacing St Peter & St Paul’s on Barnsley Road, a war memorial from 1926 that served from St Austin’s until the parish was founded in 1954, and St George’s Kettlethorpe, built in 1957.
Architecture and furnishings
Special features include a stone altar, ambo, and font with running water, as well as a bronze tabernacle, aumbry, and paschal candle holder. A triptych depicts Blessed John Bretton, a local martyr from Sandal.
