About St Anselm's Church
St Anselm's Church is a Roman Catholic church in Southall, Greater London. It is part of the Archdiocese of Westminster.
History
In 1906, the Tithe Barn from the Tudor Manor House served as the first St Anselm's church. The second church was a building in two halves, one of which housed St Anselm's School. A third church was built beside the school, becoming necessary as the number of children increased. The present church, opened in 1968, stands on a different site from the first three churches but remains on The Green.
Parish life
The parish is multicultural and seeks to witness to its faith in an area of deprivation but considerable cultural and religious diversity. Parish groups include the Society of St Vincent de Paul, the Legion of Mary, Altar servers, Young Adults, youth work and senior citizens’ lunches.
