The church has a nave on a north-south axis with low flat-roofed aisles, a south-east tower, a south-west transept, short east and west transepts to a low octagonal crossing tower, and an apsidal sanctuary flanked by side-chapels. The interior has a sanctuary with a barrel-vaulted ceiling and an apse with mosaic arcading and a ceiling depicting the Holy Spirit as a dove. The church is similar to the Church of St Willibrord, North Road, Clayton, also by Reynolds. The high gabled south front features a segmental-headed doorway with a stone surround and a hoodmould with keystone, flanked by two low round-headed windows on each side.

On the south front, the inner pair of windows are set in pilasters that rise to flank a tall round-headed blank arch with red brick infill, containing a carved stone plaque depicting St Dunstan with various emblems. The pilastered 3-bay nave and the transepts have round-headed lancets with stepped red brick surrounds, and the crossing tower has an oculus in each cardinal face. The interior has 3-bay aisle arcades with low plain semi-circular arches and tall round-headed plain arches to the crossing.
