Parish life

The Parish Finance Committee is drawn from volunteer members of the parish and is responsible for working with the parish priest to establish good governance of all fiscal matters relating to the financial management of the parish. The church provides a Directions page for visitors.

Sacraments and pastoral care

Confirmation preparation runs from early January until May, with the sacrament usually around Pentecost, and candidates must be at least 12 and attend Mass regularly. Candidates may choose a confirmation name of a saint as special patron, and the programme helps them learn about the saint.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is first made during the First Holy Communion programme and is also part of the Confirmation programme. Couples are invited to attend a baptism preparation course before their child's baptism, with a relaxed, informal and friendly atmosphere, and godparents are encouraged to attend.

At least six months' notice of a marriage is normally required. The First Holy Communion programme's first part covers the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the second part covers Holy Communion or the Eucharist. Catechists go through one or two chapters of a book at each session with the children, teaching them about things seen and practices followed at Mass and in the Church.
