About St John Vianney

St John Vianney is a Roman Catholic church in Coventry, West Midlands. It is part of the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

Introduction

St John Vianney in Coventry is distinguished by its dedicated church, which was constructed in 1962 at the heart of the Mount Nod estate and opened on 28th June.

History

The parish was established in the late 1950s to serve the Catholic community on Coventry's western side. The parish began in 1959 at Allesley Hall School. The Pastoral Care Group has taken over the work of the previous SVP group, holding regular meetings and events.

Sacraments and pastoral care

Baptisms, weddings and funerals are arranged by appointment with the Parish Priest. Couples seeking to marry at the parish must give at least six months' notice. The parish priest meets with engaged couples at least four times before the wedding. Engaged couples are invited to a marriage preparation course run by Marriage Care, including the FOCCUS questionnaire. A Catholic who has stopped practising is welcomed and supported to re-engage with the faith.
