About St. Margaret Clitherow

St. Margaret Clitherow is a Roman Catholic church in Great Ayton, North Yorkshire. It is part of the Diocese of Middlesbrough.

Introduction

On 6 January 2002, the Feast of the Epiphany, a bishop blessed and formally opened the rebuilt church.

History

In 1970 a timber prefabricated building was constructed for dual use as a community centre and church, with Mass on Sunday and Monday mornings. The rebuilt church is connected to the original prefabricated building, referred to as the Church Hall. The parish collects loose change in bowls in all churches to help pay for school meals for asylum seeker children at Sacred Heart School.
