About St. Mary
St. Mary is a closed Roman Catholic church in Alvechurch, Worcestershire, in the Archdiocese of Birmingham.
Introduction
Saint Mary's in Alvechurch occupies the former village school buildings on School Lane. Saint Mary's in Alvechurch opened in the early seventies as a Catholic place of worship for the village.
Architecture and furnishings
A community had already formed while people met for Sunday Mass in Alvechurch Village Hall. The present building was renovated for worship and still shows many traits of a Victorian school. Kitchen facilities and a disabled toilet form part of the latest improvements.
