About St. Mary and St. George, Totnes
St. Mary and St. George, Totnes is a Roman Catholic church in Totnes, Devon. It is part of the Diocese of Plymouth.
Introduction
Inside the Church, set in one rear corner, is the Shrine of the Madonna, a statue carved from the trunk of a cedar tree, with Mary and the Infant clasping the serpent turned rosary, and at the foot Saint George slaying the dragon.
Architecture and furnishings
A remarkable carved crucifix on the Sanctuary wall depicts Christ giving His blessing from the Cross, portraying the pascal mystery of the Passion, Death and Resurrection.
