About St. Patrick

St. Patrick is a Roman Catholic church in Earby, Lancashire. It is part of the Diocese of Leeds.

Introduction

In the early 1920s there were around 200 Catholics in Earby with no church, attending Mass in local halls or at Broughton Hall chapel. Architect Charles Simpson drew up the plans for the rock-faced sandstone building with stone coped gables and Welsh slate roof.

Parish life

The parish covers the villages of Gisburn, Paythorne and Rimmington west of Barnoldswick. The parish has a parish primary school and a community centre available for hire.

A stall at St Patrick's sells holy statues and cards, and a coffee morning is held every Sunday. Baptism is arranged by appointment after a two-session baptismal course that includes a DVD.

Confirmation is received by children in Year 6. Visitors can view a copy of the St Patrick's Brick Appeal leaflet. An archive photograph of the May Queen from around 1953 is available for viewing.
