St. Patrick's Church

Music and liturgy

A flower festival marked the 100th anniversary of St Patrick's Church. The parish's Carols and Lessons service was led by a deacon, with an organist and the choir leading the carols.

Parish life

The parish extends from Morecambe north towards Hest Bank and the villages of Bare and Torrisholme, and south towards Heysham and the villages of Middleton, Overton and Sunderland Point. The parish comprises two churches: Saint Mary's near the Town Centre and Promenade, and Saint Patrick's in Heysham on Saint John's Road.

The Feast of St John Henry Newman was celebrated with a pie and pea supper with entertainment by a ukulele orchestra. A Parish Feast Day Celebration was held on 7 October, with food and a ukulele band. A parishioner ran the London Marathon, raising £3,065 split between Blood Cancer UK and MDS UK. Many of the parish's altar servers represented the parish at the National Altar Servers' Mass at Lancaster Cathedral. A craft morning on 13 November 2025 offered making Christmas cards, crystal art tree decorations, Christmas flower pots and Christmas tree papercraft.

Sacraments and pastoral care

The parish reviewed the sacrament of baptism with the baptism preparation team and the parish council, concluding that the parish must take the sacrament and support for parents more seriously. About 12 months prior to the wedding, a meeting with the parish priest or deacon should be arranged. The parish holds two Marriage Preparation courses at the beginning of the year, led by married couples; those who cannot attend are invited to a diocesan course.
