About St Teresa, Newbury Park
St Teresa, Newbury Park is a Roman Catholic church in Newbury Park, Greater London. It is part of the Diocese of Brentwood.
Introduction
The church was the first Catholic Church built in England after the Second World War, reputedly the first of any Christian denomination. The church was originally built as a Chapel of Ease for the Parish of SS Peter and Paul, Ilford High Road.
Parish life
The Knights of St Columba Council 983 St Teresa's was inaugurated on 2 October 2016. The Parish Council exists to help the Parish Priest carry out his pastoral ministry.
Catechists lead programmes of preparation for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, First Holy Communion, Reconciliation, and Marriage. Altar Servers train and after one year take vows as members of the Guild of St Stephen and receive a Bronze medal. Lay Ministers of the Eucharist may take Holy Communion to parish members unable to attend Mass due to ill-health or incapacity. Readers proclaim the Word of God in scripture and the intercessory prayers during Masses.
Teams are dedicated to looking after the small linen and keeping the interior of the Church clean. Parishioners interested in flower arranging are welcome to develop their skills. The church has access for the physically disabled and a loop system for hearing aid users.
