About All Saints
All Saints is a Roman Catholic church in Oxted, Surrey. It is part of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton.
Architecture and furnishings
This church is a Grade II listed building, first listed on 23-Nov-1998. The foundation stone was laid by the Bishop of Southwark on 3rd August 1914. The church was consecrated on 6 July 1927. Leonard Williams designed the church, with the chancel built in 1913-14 and the rest in 1918-19. The painted and gilded waggon roof was decorated in 1928 to the design of Geoffrey Webb. The elaborate carved, painted and gilded reredos was erected in 1927 and made by Art and Book Co. The finely carved rood screen was designed by Leonard Williams and made by Bridgeman of Lichfield. The organ gallery and screen were designed by Geoffrey Webb and made by Bridgeman.
Music and liturgy
A temporary people-facing altar was installed in 1974. On 29 April 1998, plans for a comprehensive reordering of the church were approved. The reordered church had Mass said in it for the first time on Sunday 21 April 2001.
Parish life
The parish runs a Ukraine Support Group offering support and help for Ukrainians, their host families and supporters in the Tandridge area. The parish runs a prayer chain, with requests directed to a named contact.
