Christ the King, Amesbury

Music and liturgy

Organ accompaniment is provided at Sunday Mass. A Children’s Liturgy of the Word is provided. Eucharistic Ministers share in the liturgy and in parish life.

Parish life

Once each month a full folk Mass is held. The Saturday evening Vigil Mass has a quiet, prayerful character. Through the week, Morning Prayer (Lauds) and Holy Mass are celebrated. The parish takes a full part in local Churches Together.

A Communion Programme is provided for the parish’s young children. Couples who intend to marry give at least 6 months’ notice.

Sacraments and pastoral care

Baptism is celebrated for each family on its own. Young adults prepare for Confirmation with other young adults of the deanery at Saint Osmund’s, the deanery church. Marriage preparation for couples is given on an individual basis. Couples who are preparing for marriage may attend a recognised marriage course.

Baptism is arranged with the parish priest, with as much notice as possible. The sick and the dying are visited regularly and, when appropriate, receive the Sacrament of the Sick. A Parish Pastoral Council works for the parish’s good and for the mission of the church.
