Sacraments and pastoral care

In 2025 a group of elderly parishioners launched The Trippers, a group for social trips using a minibus from St Ambrose-Barlow House. Baptisms are usually held on Sundays, arranged by appointment with the priest or deacon through the parish office. Children in Year 4 at primary schools are invited to make their First Communion during that year, with preparation in school or through meetings with parents. Children in Year 5 or 6 are invited to make their First Act of Reconciliation.

Confirmation preparation is usually arranged through the Archdiocesan Youth Ministry Team 'Animate' for young people in Year 8 or older attending Catholic secondary schools. Couples wishing to marry should contact the parish priest well in advance to discuss arrangements and receive the necessary paperwork. The SVP provides supermarket food vouchers, essential furniture, home items and energy top-ups to parishioners in need.
